An explosion of colour in your garden

An explosion of colour in your garden

Happy to be putting your winter clothing away?
Colour makes its way back into our everyday lives, and not just for your wardrobe, but also your garden and even your home’s interior spaces.
We all know colours emit energy. If we associate specific colours to emotions, then a colourful space can become much more welcoming.
Today we’ll give you a couple of tips referring to the use of colours on exterior spaces, which will add a whole new dimension to your ever life.
Blue – soothing, associated to deeper feelings and good energy, blue is a colour that is hard to find in nature, and for that reason it creates an incredible contrast in a garden. The best example for this is the Majorelle garden in Morocco, which has an impressive botanic collection. Within the garden, the house and other elements built in shades of blue, like the water feature, create a strong contrast which nobody can remain indifferent to.

Orange – evokes summer, warmth and conveys joy, youth. A space in which you can make use of orange is an ethnic inspired garden, with lamps and cushions, creating an atmosphere that is perfect for a meal in the desert. You might also use a couple of clay vases.
Pink/rose – a welcoming, relaxing tone, ideal for rustic gardens. Can be used on furniture, fabrics or even plants, as there are several plants supporting gorgeous pink flowers.
Red – passion, vitality. The perfect contrast for a garden with a lot of green. A great example for this is this terrace in China.

Green – symbol of hope and a hypnotic colour. A garden is made, mostly, of plants and its foliage textures, which means that it is a colour you can have all around in your garden.
Purple – typically associated with melancholy, purple is a colour that might be used in Mediterranean gardens, with highly adapted plants that require little watering, like lavender or rosemary, which support purple flours.

Yellow – warm and joyful, ideal to decorate beach terraces and gardens. When it comes to vegetation, there are several plants in the sand dunes which support yellow flowers, like the Helychrisum italicum, or even curry grass, a plant with a very strong aroma. They are perfect for gardens near the beach.
