Tips for a successful office renovation
Now that you are making your way back to the office routine, turn this space into a more appealing area. If your office is a pleasant, balanced and inviting place, it will be easier to make the transition from vacation back into work mode, even after every weekend.
Whether it is a room in your house or a completely independent area, this is a space that requires your attention due to the amount of time you spend there daily. That is why we are giving you some tips on how to successfully remodel it:
Eco-friendly renovation
3 R’s: Reduce, reuse, recycle
Less paper and more tech: this is one of mottos you should follow for your office reno. Aside from being sustainable, it will make your company look more innovative. Every chance you get, cut back on using paper, reuse it as often as you can, and recycle everything that is expendable (paper shredders might help this process, since they allow to recycle paper from documents containing possibly classified information).
Don’t forget to make appropriate containers available to each type of recycled material. It’s indispensable. If there aren’t any, you will find that people will not separate them later.
Go green
Literally. Choose interior plants to cool the environment and make it more comfortable. If you are a true natural décor enthusiast, you can even build a vertical garden. If not, you can choose some plants that require less attention, like a succulent plant. Plants help with stress relief, and being in contact with nature indoors helps you relax. They are perfect for the moments when you can’t really leave the office to go outside.
Open some windows to get light and fresh air
Try to make the make the most out of sunlight! Get yourself setup near a window or wherever you can get some direct natural light. Solar light has a direct implication with the work environment, your motivation and the energy with which you do your tasks. Make sure your windows are frequently opened to allow for fresh air circulation.
If it’s available, the ideal solution would be an outside space, like a balcony or a veranda, where you can take a break from work and breathe in some fresh air.

Colours
If you’re based in your home, choose your favourite colours for your office. Have fun with everything, not just colours, but also textures, to allow for a more dynamic and awake environment. Choose covering solutions to add a special touch to a wall, for instance.
If you share your office space with other people don’t invest in such permanent choices. Choose neutral colours, like white, and add notes of colour with your accessories and furniture.
Leisure and common areas
Set aside some space insider your office where you can take a break, talk, and clear your head for a bit. It may be just a corner with two or three armchairs and a table with magazines, or some kind of service area, with a coffee machine, mini-fridge and a cupboard for cups and dessert plates. After all, who wouldn’t enjoy a tea and biscuits break?
How?
- Set a budget. Renovating your office may be very exciting, especially because this is the space where you usually spend, at least, eight hours a day. But it’s crucial to set a budget to control and optimise costs.
- Set a deadline. Just as important as setting a budget is setting a deadline. Depending on the type of alterations you intend to make to your space, you make take from two days to up to two weeks. Try to stick to your deadline so that you can enjoy your newly renovated space as soon as possible.
- Choose quality materials. Remodelling your office is a necessary investment, therefore, choose quality materials.
- Make decisions as a team. If you work in a team, discuss every option and decision as a team so that the end result is enjoyable for everyone.
