10 Tips To Brighten Your Home In The Summer

The calendar says SUMMER! And to allow yourself to escape your Winter routine and fully embrace the new season, we’re going to be sharing some ways to cool down your house.

Start by cleaning every little corner
Get rid of all the dirt and dust Winter has left behind. Mop your floors, clean and wash your windows to let the sun shine through. You’ll be surprised by how quickly your house will start to appear cooler once cleaned.

Do not cover your windows
They serve to provide natural light. Tall objects in front of windows, like shelves and massive plants, block sunlight, which is why it is a good idea to move those objects to another room. You’ll have more brightness which will, in turn, make your home feel more inviting.

Light curtains
Curtains made from heavy fabrics add extra weight to a room. Choose sheer curtains, or at lease semi-sheer, for a cool and light feel. Lighter colors or spring tones (yellow, orange, pink…) are options to consider.

Mirrors
The trick of reflecting light goes back to ancient Egyptians, while building their pyramids. It consists of placing mirrors in strategic points so that there is a better light reflection. Mirrors also make spaces appear larger, so they’re all about great benefits!

Add colour
This is, probably, the best way to breathe life into any space in your house, and there are many ways to add colour to a space.
If your walls are dark, it’s possible that these are the cause of your lack of light. Look up some decoration blogs or take a look at our catalogues in order to find the perfect colour for you. If you don’t want to cover every wall, then consider covering a single wall. You’ll be making your home feel and look more eclectic.
But walls shouldn’t be your only focal point. Choose décor pieces that stand out, like cushions, armchairs and side tables with bright tones, that will also do the trick.

Pick your bulbs
If you’re using lightbulbs with a yellow tint, then swap them for bright white LEDs. Not only will they supply with more light, but they’re also more energy-efficient.

Add flowers and plants
Bring a little outdoors inside your home with flowers and plants. Pretty flowers and plants are always the highlight in any space. As an added bonus, certain plants will help purify the air in your home.

Get yourself a glass door
To increase natural light, change a solid door for a glass door. When compared, glass doors will make any room appear bigger and more open.

Bring new life to furniture and old accessories
Adding colour to your home doesn’t mean it has to come at a high price. Purchase second hand furniture or transform an old wardrobe. It is incredibly easy to renovate a piece of furniture, especially since there are so many magazines and websites with inspiration and tips.

The scent of Summer!
Now that your home is ready for the Summer, all you need is the final touch – the air freshener. Placing fresheners in several rooms of your house is a great way to add a cool fragrance to your home and boost your mood at the same time.
